Seeing What You’re Really Seeing

Goethe, the great Renaissance man, placed great emphasis on the art of seeing. Goethe believed that the manner in which one sees has a tremendous impact upon what one is really seeing.

Due to Goethe’s unique manner of observation while seeing, he was able to recognize a total organization or unity of the world while noting the diversity of its parts.

Observing in Goethe’s manner, when one observes a phenomenon a person needs to be more active in their seeing than what is usually done. We tend to think about seeing as just opening our eyes in front of an event and we are observing something that is flowing toward us, into our consciousness, through our senses. In Goethe’s manner of seeing, we look from ourselves toward the phenomenon. This is accomplished through putting our attention into seeing, so that we really do see what we are seeing, rather than just having impressions imprinting themselves upon our consciousness.

Trust and Have Faith in Your Belief

open mind - galaxy of the mind
Hello Everyone.

In today’s post I would like to tell you how much I believe in YOU.
But before I share more I would like to mention a dream I had several years ago.

I was walking along the ocean with thousands of people, who like myself, were seeking greater spiritual enlightenment. To my left was the ocean and a short distance in front of me, almost invisible because of a fog, stood a woman dressed in blue holding a microphone. To her immediate left and to my right were circular stands filled with people. I recognized the people in the stands because they were well-known lecturers in the spiritual and health fields. The people in the stands had over-sized heads and there was a fog and loud noises coming from their mouths. I couldn't hear and could barely see the woman in blue. When I got closer to the woman in blue, I saw it was Sophia, the goddess of wisdom. I then wondered, if these people in the stands, who profess to know so much, were causing this interference, then what are spiritual seekers supposed to do? Then a breeze blew off the ocean, cleared the fog and everything became quiet, and then I heard the following words..."all one needs to reach a higher state of awareness within themselves is, 'A Beautiful Heart, an Open Mind and a Humble Spirit'."

The Shapes of Things to Come

The ancient philosophers long held the belief, ‘that which is below is like unto that which is above, and that which is above is like unto that which is below.’ Through this analogy the ancients were able to understand the operation of the Grand World, the macrocosm, based on the patterns they observed in the small world or microcosm.

Philosophers such as Robert Fludd, Paracelsus, Jacob Boehme and other of the Rosicrucian philosophers believed the various worlds of matter operated following precise mathematical formulas and harmonies. They found repetitions of several basic geometric forms throughout the kingdom of trees, flowers, plants, ferns, snowflakes, people and the cosmos.

Human microcosm
We are all perpetually bombarded by an inconceivable amount of energies throughout each day. Yet, we only respond to those for which we have activated polarities within our own being. The ancients recognized that within each person is a microcosm of the macrocosm. Human beings contain a complete solar system within and therefore are able to activate a complete set of solar polarities.

Paracelsus, the old alchemist, referred to the bodily polarities as foci. For every star in the heavens, there is a corresponding foci within each individual. For every flower in the field and every energy center throughout the cosmos, there is an internal foci, which can be activated, within each person.

In the Likeness of the Creator

Mind power
Some wise teachers in the past believed that the material world existed within the thought stream of the Creator. Held in thought by the Creator, matter remains in a form that appears solid and tangible.

Human beings are also creators in terms of their imagination. Human imagination can eventually take form in art, science and physical structures that we invent. But creation is not just limited to outer forms it also takes place within our inner world.

Human beings are perpetually creating various things through the sheer nature of their thoughts and imagination. We are in the likeness of the Creator in that we are also able to create and manifest. Whenever a person initiates an impulse through a thought or imaginative image, vibrations are set into motion leading to an action and a creation of a new life takes place.

The Himalayas
There is a story about a man who lived in Your City, USA, named True Seeker. He was in his early 50s, a family man with two grown children and had been working at his job for approximately 15 years. He had an interest in esoteric subjects but never spent too much time studying any particular topic.

He had become a bit restless in his life and started to dwell upon the thought of what the purpose of life was? The more he thought about it the more confused he became. He had a wonderful partner, his children seemed well suited to make their own journey in life and he enjoyed his job. Yet, something deep inside seemed unfulfilled.

One morning upon awakening he felt the strongest urge that he must know what the meaning of life is. He had gazed at the stars the previous evening and the thought crossed his mind, how far does it all go? Why was he created and did he have some greater purpose to his life?

The Importance of an Open Mind

closed boarded-up house
In the 1500s in a small village in Germany, several townsfolk became concerned when one of the citizens locked himself in his house for five days. Every part of the house was completely closed and tightly sealed and because of their concern, the townspeople broke down the door to check on the man. Once inside they found the man dead. Nothing that the people saw could explain why the man had died.

In that time, people could not figure out the real reason why the individual had passed away. One philosopher, a great observer of nature, reasoned that something had polluted the air, causing a stagnation and the stagnation led to the death of the body.

From this experience the philosopher observed similar situations in nature as well as similar situations in human nature, where a closing off of vital nutrients led to a stagnation and a sort of death of normal activity.

The Life of Light and the Light of Life

a brilliant light
The ancients used the analogy of light to explain the vital energy that surrounded and energized them.

There is a visible light which we call brightness and an invisible light of energy within the visible light which goes unseen to our outer senses. The visible physical light is bright to our senses and the inner energy is a light that feeds our inner soul.

A Very Tall Tale…But True

In the early to mid-1970s I decided to play two-man beach volleyball on the beaches of Southern California.

In the late 1960s I had sustained a knee injury, and the medical experts that my university had me consult with, had all recommended surgery. As I mentioned on my earlier posts, I had found an alternative therapy through reading a mechanics magazine, this approach rectified my knee enough to allow my participating in the small college Track and Field Nationals, without using surgery.

In those years I loved the aspect of competition and when my track and field career ended, I wanted to test my knee in another sport that demanded a lot of twisting and turning.
