Optical and Auditory Techniques of the Ancients

Optical and Auditory Techniques of the Ancients

The ancient Greeks and Egyptians utilized optical and auditory therapies which they believed could come through the eyes and ears so they incorporated:

  • Music therapy
  • Religious ritual
  • Sacred Chants
  • < >Harmonious surroundings
  • Great art

  • The Greeks, especially Pythagoras, believed that geometric solids constructed in forms, designs, arrangements and patterns could capture and hold energy. Ancient philosophers taught that each geometric solid had specific energies and therapeutic benefits when they were seen or meditated upon.

At Constantinople in the 1400s, the Arabs taught that tones, movements and designs had profound effects upon the human mind. Some of the early alchemists learned that “if a person could produce or construct a completely perfect form, that form would convey back to the person, through his sensory perceptions, a powerful energy for the restoration of his own normalcy.”

One of the techniques I use in my healing work deals with aligning a person’s consciousness with the archetype of their own perfection.

“I want you to close your eyes and take a trip with me…and we are going to the very center of your universe…of your own perfect universe which was perfect in the beginning and will be perfect in the end…in which there was no creation until the creation of you. Let’s remain here for a moment and we will acquaint you with your perfected soul. The modifications that have been brought down through time have come from the activities of yourself within various livings. You have taken this imperfect self and recreated it living after living.”

“I want you to associate with the perfection that is a part of your makeup and because of the laws of similars, the modifications will take place to bring about your alignment with your own perfect self. If you hold this consideration of your perfection, it will allow yourself to be aligned and in resonance with your own perfect archetype that has always existed and will always exist.”

Through this action we are going to change the direction of the flow of time and energy and move your individual soul into an association to the perfect soul that was your beginning. When you have a desire and a concept relative to the desire to reach your own perfect self, your emotional energies are stimulated and a sympathetic vibration is set into motion. As resonance begins on all planes between your own perfect archetype and your current self, energetic plateau after plateau comes into alignment.

Understanding this experience from an emotional level, activates forces within you, and you will find great changes taking place within yourself. Of course this is my perspective and interpretation of a particular aspect of ancient teachings. Interpretation is just that, my interpretation. I am sharing this specific information with the intent that it might be helpful to some people who will be reading it.

The Eternal Flow

The Eternal Flow

A wonderful philosopher from the past had a very interesting thought regarding the flow of life. This philosopher shared that people should not become too wrapped up in grief for external events for they are only a results of causes, and those causes are results of previous causes and so on and so on. Everything in this reality continues to flow.

This old philosopher shared that when an individual recognizes that unchanged, untouched soul-self within, the changes that take place outside in the world will not have such a deleterious effect. As a river flows and as plants live and emit odors, as the sun radiates and as the mind within us seems a constant stream of thoughts, these are all emanations, and from every emanation is a new emanation, and that from which it emanates, is an emanation also.

If anything physical could standstill, it would be instantly crushed and dissipated by the current which it resisted, and if it is a person who tries to standstill within their mind, to focused, they become crazed and that person who holds one emotion or thought usually ends up insane because they have not allowed the mind to make adjustments and correct things that need to be corrected.

There is no question that we receive the most out of all of our experiences by being present within the moment. When we realize that there is an eternal flow of cause and effect, a constant procession of emanations that occur because this is the schoolroom which we occupy; when we come to the realization that there is a part of us that watches and observes our own actions; our reactions to our actions; our choices and decisions that lead to further actions, reactions, choices and decisions; then we realize that what we experience does not diminish us, but is meant to elevate us.

The wise philosopher said, flow with the course of nature. All greatness comes in degrees. There is more above than below. “Experiences always introduces us to facts…any experience is leading us to a universal experience.” This same philosopher said, “He was a rocking stone always tilting, but never overthrown.”

Emerson stated, “Every moment instructs though we know it not and call today trivial for wisdom is so melted and disguised into every form that we know it not as wisdom. It was poured into me as blood and I knew not it was wisdom; it convulsed in me as pain and I suspected not it was wisdom; it slid into me as pleasure, I guessed not its value. It enveloped me in dull melancholy days, I wished it gone, and I could not discern its real nature.”

‘Whosoever apprehends the infinite and every person can, brings all worth and significance into that spot where they stand though it be a ditch, a potato-field, a work-bench or wherever they be.

“The world is an echo which returns to us what we say and think.”

Who and Where are the Angels?

Who and Where Are the Angels?

There are those individuals that you would find at all levels and walks of life – be they women, men, even very little children – where there is a particular thing that happens.

It seems that whenever we are close to them, it is enjoyable; and we carry away, as we leave them, a feeling as though something has been bettered within ourselves.  Often individuals having no metaphysical experience, whatsoever, will say to you, ‘I like that person, I always feel a bit better after I’ve been talking to that person.’

For the average individual, this is the truest indicator that we have been close to one of those individuals that has raised themselves, through their life experience, to a higher level of attainment.  This is true attainment.  These are people who do not speak on a lecture circuit, may not have any special graduate degrees or written self-help books; they are people who make us feel comfortable when we are in their presence.

I’ve learned of people who were agitated; or from an individual who was anxious; or a person manifesting a degree of depression, who said that they seemed to gravitate toward a person who made them feel better, just by being in their presence.  It might be the most mundane of relationships or meetings in the world; and yet, the individual who is ‘hurting’ will come away from the interchange feeling better.  These are the true comforters who naturally operate out of an inner spiritual essence in the world’s experience.

You might say, you can find angels wearing overalls; aprons; some of them - little old ladies – knitting and rocking; someone working as a delivery person; a person working at a cash register and others possibly doing what might appear as mundane activities.  They take a bit of a moment to share with you, out of their experience, and you are comforted at that moment and that makes a difference in your life.

Often, individuals are looking for what they consider as an obvious sign that someone has reached spiritual enlightenment.  Angel wings perhaps?  Some consider someone spiritual enlightened because they’ve written a book or give lectures and seminars at numerous conferences or events.  Does this really make one spiritually enlightened?

I’ve been fortunate in my life to have shared ‘a podium’ with many of individuals who some recognize as the gurus of spiritual awareness.  What one sees on the stage or hears through the microphone may not necessarily be how that individual is in ‘real life.’  For some it is easier to talk then to walk the talk.
When I was young and competing in athletic competitions I remember something my father said.  If you are really good you don’t need to tell people about it, they will see your performances and know it for themselves.

Several of the people I have crossed paths with have been a bit intimidated when they would come to my library.  Oh my gosh, they might say, I don’t know as much as you.  I haven’t read as much as you.  I am not as smart or as spiritual as you are!  My answer has been, ‘did it ever occur to you that I may have needed to learn it through books?  There are individuals who have never read or studied philosophy, theosophy, eastern mysticism or practiced yoga; attended numerous ‘spiritual events’ or spent time in retreats or have a personal guru.  These people just act naturally, like the people I mentioned at the top of this post, routinely walking and living true spiritual concepts every day.

Don’t compare or wish you could be as spiritual as the writer of the book or the speakers at the conference.  They are not ultimately smarter, wiser and more spiritual.  What does being ‘spiritual’ really mean?

You don’t need endless courses, levels, gurus, special sequences of words or to buy books.  Be natural, be beautiful and be loving.

You are not spiritual because of your political party, how much money you have, your credentials, your status in life, your sex, your skin color, because you’ve written a book or books on spirituality…and you can continue my list…I haven’t because you already know how long my posts seem to end up.

All that is needed is a beautiful heart, an open mind and a humble spirit.  It is said we are all angels in training.  I believe in you!  Believe in yourself and ask yourself…did the individual who came to me and just left my presence, feel better, become more empowered, is happier and feels more loved?

“Those who bring sunshine into the lives of others cannot keep it from themselves.”

To inspire and empower.  With love, in love and through love may your day be filled with joy, beauty and love.

Magnetism: A Vital, Energetic Force with Love

Magnetism: A Vital, Energetic Force with Love

Magnetic effects have been used for healing, moving objects, and has been used to describe the force that carries love.  The picture is magnetic fields taken through the Nemescope.

The effects of magnets and magnetic fields has been recognized for a very long time. J.S.C. Schweigger and C.C. Bart, in their separate books published in Germany around 1836, conducted research showing magnets being used on the island of Samothrace around 600 BC. The Idaeic finger is mentioned in references to the island as an iron object that was placed on the body and created "wonders of healing by restoring affected organs to their normal condition." In Samothrace magnets healed.

Galen, a Greek physician around 200 BC, in his book De Simplicium Medicamentorum Facultatibus (translated to Latin), mentions the use of magnets in healing. In the early 1500s, Paracelsus wrote several treatises on the use of magnets. A more elaborate system of using magnetism was written by Father Athanasius Kircher, (1650s) who included the integration of a universal magnetism. The ancient philosophers found there is an intangible invisible magnetic power that draws all things together, and it is a force that animates all activity emanating from the Godhead.

Magnetism is a force, a spiritual energy that has been described as "The life force."
Both Paracelsus and Father Kircher explain their theory of medicine based on the concept of sympathy. A magnetic action where good aspects could be attracted to the patient and less positive influences, existing within the body could be drawn out through the use of magnets.

They attached metallic like objects, very near to the patient’s body, to create the desired effect of attraction or repulsion. The Scottish physician William Maxwell, in his book De Medicina Magnetica, a treatise published around 1640 and translated into English in 1656, wrote of the magnetic attraction that exists within the animal, vegetable and human realms. Various bodies in each realm are charged with magnetic energy that can attract or repel.

Maxwell said, "There is a universal attraction, or a world-soul, it is life, a fire, and ethereal as light itself. All matter would be destitute of action, except when this life-force, magnetic force, permeates it. He who knows this magnetic spirit, a common bond of all quarters of the earth and lives through and in all things, can fix it to a particular body, it will perform great healing."

"He who knows how to operate on men by this universal spirit, can heal, and help those at any distance."

Some of the great healers of the past as Cure d’Ars and J.R. Newton had so strong a magnetic current that people could either feel it or hear it. J.R. Newton had an audience of people stand up to be healed. When he thrust his arms from his chest outward, the audience heard a popping sound like an explosion. People described their experience of Newton’s sharing of love, as a force that they could feel energizing their body. Dr. Newton, who cured 250,000 people, stated that there was a magnetic current that he felt through his body and passed along to those who were deficient in their magnetic energy. It was a magnetic current of love, which he saw intuitively as a blueish, white light. It is a magnetic force.

Albert Roy Davis and Walter C. Rawls, Jr. were two scientists who researched magnetism and its effect on cells. Two of their books, The Magnetic Effect and Magnetism and Its Effect on the Living System, speak of their research with magnetism and cancer. "In over 300 active cancer biopsy transplants to laboratory strain white rats, mice and rabbits, each having a similar blood type of man, we demonstrated that we could control, growth, development or arrest of cancer.

This was accomplished through the proper application of the different energies associated with each pole of a magnet…It has been shown after several hundred research transplants that the N pole, the magnetic negative energy of the two poles has slowed, controlled or arrested further development of the active cancer site."

"To further support our findings, when the S pole of a magnet, that being the positive energy of a magnet, is applied to cancers. They become more advanced and then develop, grow and speed at an accelerated rate."

The two researchers used magnets on a variety of difficulties including arthritis, glaucoma, infertility, and diseases related to aging. They concluded that negative magnetic fields have a beneficial effect on living organisms, whereas positive magnetic fields appear to have a harmful effect.

Have a beautiful day with love, in love and through love.

Isabella d'Este: Becoming One With the Beautiful

Isabella d’Este: Becoming One With The Beautiful

Isabella d’Este was born in 1474 in Ferrera, Italy. She has been called the ‘First Lady of the World’. She has also been referred to as the ‘Mother of the Renaissance.’ Composers composed music for her, artists such as Rubens, Leonardo da Vinci and Titian, whose painting is on the post, painted her portrait. Many authors during her life inscribed their dedications to her. She is one of the most remarkable people of all time.

She could play numerous musical instruments; she sang, danced, wrote poetry and spoke numerous languages. She was admired by persons of high-estate in Europe and loved by all the common people, as she was an accomplished musician and singer. She spoke with the Pope regarding matters of politics as well as had her husband and property released from invaders who had captured them.

She had an unquenchable thirst for knowledge and a deep love for all the arts. Her father arranged for her to have the best teachers of the day and she received an education in the classics, philosophy, Latin, French and Spanish. As she grew from youth into maturity, and no doubt through her education in the arts, she became recognized for her great inward and outer beauty. She was married at 16 to Giovanni Francesco Gonzaga, who was the eldest son of the marquis of Mantova.

When she first arrived at her husband’s estate, he set aside several rooms for her private use. In these rooms, Isabella created her rooms of beauty. She called her rooms the Studiolo and the Grotta. She filled these rooms with antiques and paintings, which she personally commissioned from the greatest artists, in numerous fields. She had works of art from Mantegna, da Vinci, Bellini, Titian, Raphael, Dossi, Correggio, Costa and many others.

A most remarkable fact, is that she told these artists how to paint their mythological scenes. She would tell the artists, what figures should be displayed in their painting, and the sizes each figure should be relative to each other. She was extremely well-versed in allegories and ancient mythology. To some of the artists she wrote up to one hundred letters explaining the height of certain figures and the angles and coloring of many of the elements within the paintings.

Michelangelo visited Isabella in Mantova and drew a beautiful portrait of Isabella in pastels. Isabella collected the greatest jewelry, woodcarvings, metals, poetry, literature, and musical instruments directly from the artists. Each item had a particular vibration that she wanted added to her Studiolo.

According to her writings, the concept of her ‘Beauty Room,’ the Studiolo, was not to gather and show off possessions for the sake of ego, but to surround guests with particular vibrations relative to each object. Isabella wanted to surround her guests with beauty, truth, harmony, balance and proportion. Isabella knew that the proper vibrations could be garnered through visual and auditory experiences during listening to music, gazing at art, flowing through dance, and the contemplation during the reading of literature and poetry.

The walls of her Studiolo contained allegorical paintings, and she commissioned artists to create inlaid architectures of imaginary cities and palaces, musical instruments and court scenes on wooden panels.

To become beautiful, you surround yourself with, in, and through beauty. Her Studiolo was a momentary retreat from the world -- to bring an individual to the highest ideals of culture, and to guide and support the mind in pure and noble thoughts. Isabella believed, as a person’s thoughts and vibrations become more beautiful, the physical body will follow. Through her discussions with the brightest philosophers of her day, she incorporated the highest philosophy into the art work that she commissioned.

While flying from my office in Germany to Phoenix, I had a vision of the Studiolo that I needed to create. It was two months before 9/11 and during the flight I kept hearing that I had to remind people of the beauty and love in the world. I was to remind people that we are co-creators of art, music, poetry, dance, and other aspects of the beautiful. I don’t sleep during these 10-hour flights, and I thought perhaps I was going dingy. But then I realized that Isabella and Sophia were whispering in my ear, so I began construction of my Studiolo immediately upon my return.

Two months later the experience in the airplane became clearer to me. I needed to build a room of beauty, to be a reminder of the nobler aspects of people, in the midst of such pain, destruction and sadness. I played classical music 24 hours a day during the construction and first seven years after the room was built.

I believe that each of us longs for greater peace and well-being and we recognize how something beautiful makes us feel. It doesn’t matter what the size of your Studiolo might be. It is a concept of aligning yourself with something that carries you to a loftier vibration. It can be a chair next to a beautiful painting or your spot in nature. Isabella was sharing; that surrounding yourself with vibrations of beauty, carries you to becoming one with the Beautiful.

With love, in love and through love.
