Why Not Color and Light?

In some previous posts I’ve shared information regarding the use of color for health and well-being. I would like to share more information from various sources regarding the use of light and color.

Dr. Kate Baldwin, M.D. F.A.C.S. delivered a paper at the clinical meeting of the Section on Eye, Ear, Nose and Throat Diseases of the Medical Society of the State of Pennsylvania, and the abstract was printed in the Atlantic Medical Journal of April 1927, stating, “…For about six years I have given close attention to the action of colors in restoring the body functions, and I am perfectly honest in saying that, after nearly thirty-seven years of active hospital and private practice in medicine and surgery, I can produce quicker and more accurate results with colors than will all other methods combined – AND WITH LESS STRAIN ON THE PATIENT. (Caps are mine.)

Dr. Baldwin was senior surgeon at Philadelphia Women’s Hospital, one of the oldest surgical hospitals in the country. She stated in sworn testimony in a State Court in New Jersey, “I have cured cases of cancer as well as gonorrhea, syphilis, breast tumors, cataracts, gastric ulcers and glaucoma.”

“I may commence at the top of the head and cover practically every part of the body: ordinary inflammatory conditions of the eye, hemorrhage into the retina and sclera, infection of the sinuses, bronchitis, pneumonia, pleurisy, tuberculosis, heart conditions (functional and organic), acute indigestion, asthma, hay-fever, hiccoughs that had for ten days resisted all classical methods (cured in one day), all sorts of infections (local and systemic) abscesses, jaundice and kidney conditions.”

“I have treated tuberculosis, mastoid troubles, pleurisy, hemorrhoids, rheumatism and lumbago. In many cases of cancer Spectro-Chrome will help if there is not too much destruction from surgery."

In 1903 Dr. A. Rollier opened his clinic in Leysin, Switzerland for the use of sun treatment. Rollier had achieved success in the treatment of some tuberculur conditions of the extremities of the limbs that other surgeons had advised amputating. His success rate was near 90% treating his patients with sunlight.

Pliny (79 AD) stated that the secret of Rome’s becoming the mightiest of nations for six hundred years, was that the Romans maintained solaria on the roofs of their houses where they took frequent sun-and-air baths.

Colors and light radiate energy and science has demonstrated that people, plants and animals consist of energy and also radiate energy.

In 1926, Dr. Martha J. Peebles, who was a Medical Inspector in the Brooklyn, NY Department of Health, as well as a front line surgeon for the Army during WWI, testified in court for Dinshah Ghadiali, the founder of the Spectro-chrome color therapy, that she had 17 Spectro-chrome color devices and had successfully treated, “tumors, sciatica, heart disorders, meningitis, goiter, ulcers, thrombosis, neuritis and many other disorders.”

Dr. Francis L. Owens, practicing in a North Carolina hospital, found that a colored green film used over a light bulb definitely helped in the treatment of burns. A three-year-old child had fallen into a bucket of boiling starch and acquired second and third degree burns. Owens said, “All pain was relieved in a half hour and the patient never cried or complained of pain again.” All of the burned areas were healed.
In a previous post I mentioned little Grace Shirlow, who was brought to Dr. Baldwin with third degree burns over two-thirds of her body. Given up by other physicians, Dr. Baldwin treated Grace with color therapy. One hour after the first treatment, the pain subsided and the little girl never complained of any pain again. Grace was not given any grafting or topical preparations other than color projected over her body and she grew new skin. Grace is pictured above along with Dr. Baldwin.

In the 1920s, more than 500 US doctors were using color therapy until they were told to stop or they would lose their medical license. No reason was given other than the AMA didn’t believe it could work, and therefore it didn’t make sense that it could work, because they knew it wouldn’t work! At this point we might want to look at the treatment that is used for infant liver syndrome or yellow jaundice. It was found that a particular color of blue, when projected over the baby’s body, would lead to a recovery of severe cases, while those babies that didn’t use this color treatment would die. This is color or energy therapy.

References to color therapy date back to Pythagoras (550 BC). Pythagoras is responsible for the formula for the right triangle, which is the basis of all architecture. He really did know what he was talking about! Tens of thousands of people have benefited from the use of color and light over the years.

I also mentioned on a previous post how my father was given a diagnosis, by the Head of Neurosurgery at Kaiser Permanente after his brain surgery, and we were told he would remain a quadriplegic and they wanted to schedule quadriplegic training. I told the hospital we would use color therapy in my father’s room twice-a-day, for one hour each session; my father walked out of the hospital on two canes after six weeks. Once my father returned home, we activated his ‘neurogenic bladder’, the same bladder that the hospital stated would never work on its own again, and my father would need a catheter for the rest of his life. After five weeks of being home, my father was able to urinate on his own and walk on his own without canes for the next 18 years.

Color therapy often takes longer than popping a pill to rectify a particular health situation however one does not open themselves up to a lot of adverse effects. My co-founder, LaVerne Boeckmann, and I have personally witnessed the effectiveness of the use of color therapy, and we have received reports from color being used on nearly one thousand people and animals.

Our World Research Foundation holds hundreds of books on color therapy and thousands of studies have documented the effectiveness of using color and light treatments. Color works for more than 350 different illnesses, diseases and discomforts.

I can’t diagnose or prescribe for anyone but I certainly can inform you that we all have options and choices that we can make regarding our health. Why not color and light? A good book regarding color therapy is Let There Be Light by Dinshah Ghadiali.

With all best wishes for your health.

To inspire and empower.
