There are those individuals that you would find at all levels and walks of life – be they women, men, even very little children – where there is a particular thing that happens.
It seems that whenever we are close to them, it is enjoyable; and we carry away, as we leave them, a feeling as though something has been bettered within ourselves. Often individuals having no metaphysical experience, whatsoever, will say to you, ‘I like that person, I always feel a bit better after I’ve been talking to that person.’
For the average individual, this is the truest indicator that we have been close to one of those individuals that has raised themselves, through their life experience, to a higher level of attainment. This is true attainment. These are people who do not speak on a lecture circuit, may not have any special graduate degrees or written self-help books; they are people who make us feel comfortable when we are in their presence.
I’ve learned of people who were agitated; or from an individual who was anxious; or a person manifesting a degree of depression, who said that they seemed to gravitate toward a person who made them feel better, just by being in their presence. It might be the most mundane of relationships or meetings in the world; and yet, the individual who is ‘hurting’ will come away from the interchange feeling better. These are the true comforters who naturally operate out of an inner spiritual essence in the world’s experience.
You might say, you can find angels wearing overalls; aprons; some of them - little old ladies – knitting and rocking; someone working as a delivery person; a person working at a cash register and others possibly doing what might appear as mundane activities. They take a bit of a moment to share with you, out of their experience, and you are comforted at that moment and that makes a difference in your life.
Often, individuals are looking for what they consider as an obvious sign that someone has reached spiritual enlightenment. Angel wings perhaps? Some consider someone spiritual enlightened because they’ve written a book or give lectures and seminars at numerous conferences or events. Does this really make one spiritually enlightened?
I’ve been fortunate in my life to have shared ‘a podium’ with many of individuals who some recognize as the gurus of spiritual awareness. What one sees on the stage or hears through the microphone may not necessarily be how that individual is in ‘real life.’ For some it is easier to talk then to walk the talk.
When I was young and competing in athletic competitions I remember something my father said. If you are really good you don’t need to tell people about it, they will see your performances and know it for themselves.
Several of the people I have crossed paths with have been a bit intimidated when they would come to my library. Oh my gosh, they might say, I don’t know as much as you. I haven’t read as much as you. I am not as smart or as spiritual as you are! My answer has been, ‘did it ever occur to you that I may have needed to learn it through books? There are individuals who have never read or studied philosophy, theosophy, eastern mysticism or practiced yoga; attended numerous ‘spiritual events’ or spent time in retreats or have a personal guru. These people just act naturally, like the people I mentioned at the top of this post, routinely walking and living true spiritual concepts every day.
Don’t compare or wish you could be as spiritual as the writer of the book or the speakers at the conference. They are not ultimately smarter, wiser and more spiritual. What does being ‘spiritual’ really mean?
You don’t need endless courses, levels, gurus, special sequences of words or to buy books. Be natural, be beautiful and be loving.
You are not spiritual because of your political party, how much money you have, your credentials, your status in life, your sex, your skin color, because you’ve written a book or books on spirituality…and you can continue my list…I haven’t because you already know how long my posts seem to end up.
All that is needed is a beautiful heart, an open mind and a humble spirit. It is said we are all angels in training. I believe in you! Believe in yourself and ask yourself…did the individual who came to me and just left my presence, feel better, become more empowered, is happier and feels more loved?
“Those who bring sunshine into the lives of others cannot keep it from themselves.”
To inspire and empower. With love, in love and through love may your day be filled with joy, beauty and love.
