What’s up with that Inner Voice?
Some personal observations...
In the early 80s I placed myself into a ‘state’ where I would observe myself during any actions or talking I would do. I noticed that many times when I immediately reacted to a situation I would receive internal commentary such as, ‘why did you do that’ or ‘why didn’t you stay calm?’
One of the things I noticed was that this critiquing capability seemed to be almost all knowing because it didn’t matter what I was involved with, it could compare my actions to some idealized viewpoint and make a comment concerning it.
I desired to know more about this critiquing aspect so I addressed questions to it. Over a little time I received the following information…
At a person’s very beginning in a living, the individual is two people…one is the collective activity associated from the soul’s experience over many livings and the other is a projected personality that is associated for the job here on earth.
Now this projected personality will learn as it goes through life…it will learn within narrow categories that are dictated by an Overself, or Super Conscious. These two selves will have had experiences in life, as well as livings before, so an individual has an ego that is derived from the collection of egos manifested from all the livings before which is a part of one’s Spiritual Being.
We might consider it as a Super Ego and we would also have a Super Consciousness or a collection of all the levels of Consciousness in previous livings. There are numerous levels within each of us associated between the unconscious, conscious and subconscious of both the Super Ego and Super Consciousness and their connection to the activity of the soul. From this that was shared to me, it appears that we are much more complex than what modern psychology understands.
I was wondering why I couldn’t spend more time functioning in the higher states during waking time and somehow neutralize the projection. One point that was made to me was that it would take more energy to be continuously operating at the higher ‘state.’ It was possible but not if an individual wanted to be functioning in the world, such as driving a car and other tasks we do here. It was pointed out to me that it isn’t necessary to neutralize the projection as it is doing what it is meant to do, and that is, whatever my physical thought processes are at the moment. Once a physical activity is contemplated by the projection, the higher aspect of the soul then has the ability to offer alternatives.
The higher aspects, or inner voice within us, does not demand that a direction be taken, it only mentions alternatives within a vernacular that would be associated with an individual’s viewpoint. It generally does not suggest a direction that is very foreign to an individual.
In our current understanding it does not seem possible to have two thoughts at once. The average human being can’t do this. We seem to perceive only one thought at any exact moment. However, an individual who understands this concept of the two selves, and becomes open to them, can perceive a physical thought in the physical mind and a non-material thought or a counter thought in the spiritual mind…at exactly the same instant.
What usually happens is that the suggestion or information from the spiritual mind must wait until it can get a word in edgewise and tell you about an alternative of a higher and better nature. It is important to note that the extra dimension of your self is present all of the time.
How can we become more aware and delineate these different aspects of ourselves? Conceive of yourself standing in a stream of water and you have both hands cupped in the water. If you have enough perception you can realize that the water feels different to each hand and the temperature is different…because of different perceptions within the self. If you feel water on your stomach you are conditioned to either accept the temperature or not and you don’t conceive of the possibility of any other perception you might have.
Most people have been educated into using only our current set of perceptions, one that doesn’t go into really ‘feeling’ and ‘sensing,’ because we have done the same thing over and over again until it becomes second nature. Everyone has the capability of recognizing the difference in temperatures with their hands but few ever develop it. Obviously opening up other states of perception is what is developed through meditation.
In order to communicate with this higher state of awareness on a more continuous basis, you must continue to reinforce and believe that you want this communication beyond your consciousness. You keep this persistently active until your normal consciousness gets tired of hearing that you are seeking another connection beyond it. Eventually your deeper aspect comes through in an easier manner. This is partially what is accomplished through hypnosis. When you are looking to create a particular function, you must continually insist, continue to talk and think about it, and keep it in the forefront of your mind.
This of course is only my observations from my own personal experience. Perhaps this is a bit ‘heavy’ but I hope it is of some interest or stimulates some new thoughts for you.
So…What’s Up with That Inner Voice? It’s an older and wiser YOU!
With love, in love and through love.
