In the 1500s, Paracelsus shares that everything in nature has a purpose. Within every geographical area where an illness prevails, there is a remedy for that difficulty within nature. Many of the remedies in nature have grown into the shape of the organ of the body that it will support. Paracelsus goes on to say that substances in nature, even venom from snakes that appear poisonous, have a purpose and are a positive energy for something else that exists in the world. Nothing exists that does not have some purpose. Paracelsus devised a system of patches that placed on the body would extract a poison from a person. The patch would contain something from nature that would use this so-called poison as an energy for its own growth. For Paracelsus medicine was discovering the aspects of nature that would help tune the body back to a harmonious and balanced condition.
In the late 1800s and early 1900s, we discover the beautiful musical philosophy of Hazrat Inayat Khan, the wonderful Sufi of India. Hazrat Inayat Khan was a professional musician who taught the importance of sound, harmony and the law of rhythm, as a means of stimulating the healing power within the self. He stated, “I gave up my music career with the veena, when I finally touched the music of the spheres. Then every soul became for me a musical note, and all life became music. Inspired by it, I spoke to people, and those who were attracted to my words listened to them instead of my songs. Hazrat Inayat Khan believed that his work was to tune souls instead of instruments and to harmonize people instead of notes.” “I found in every word a certain musical value, a melody in every thought, harmony in every feeling, and I have tried to interpret the same thing with clear and simple words to those who used to listen to my music.” Hazrat began his musical career by playing musical instruments until he turned himself, and all his activities during his life, into a musical instrument. “I offered the instrument of myself to the divine Musician…I have become His flute, and when He chooses He plays His music.”
The whole universe works by laws of rhythm. From the rise and fall of waves, the ebb and flow of tides, the sunrise and sunset, the moving of planets in their orbits and on and on. There is a rhythm and flow or our body forces that follow a natural order. Health is that state where rhythm, tone and our key note, all are in perfect harmony. “When our health is out of order, it means that the music of our Being is out of harmony, it is out of tune. Therefore, in order to put ourselves into a state of our own harmony and rhythm, it is necessary to use the help of harmony and rhythm.
Throughout history individuals have recognized numerous divine laws of health and well-being. It is an aspect of our reality that what we associate with, we in some degree become the same. A quiet review of one’s life, reflecting upon the actions that were taken under certain circumstances, asking yourself whether they were of the highest and best, can bring as much awareness as endless years of counseling. We do know what is right and wrong. We know when we have taken a step that is not in rhythm with our inner self. If you aren’t sure, then your body and psyche will tell you. The body does not understand righteous indignation. You might be perfectly right in some situation, but the explosion that are your thoughts and actions have the same effect as a bomb exploding in a building. The body hears an exploding note that is not in harmony, and reverberates to that tone causing destruction to the body structure.
