It's the Water

Many of my past posts have dealt with therapies and techniques based on the use of the electromagnetic spectrum, most notably in the ranges of electricity, sound, magnetism and color. Today's post deals with water.

In 1990, I had the opportunity to travel to the city of Bad Worishofen, also known as 'The Spa of Kings.' Bad Worishofen is located in Bavaria and is known as the birthplace of the famous Kneipp water therapy.

At the time of my visit to Bad Worishofen, there were over 500 locations in the city offering some type of Kneipp water therapy treatment. Along with these hotels and spas, there were numerous parks with walking and riding paths offering opportunities to experience unique forms of the Kneipp therapies.

A Very Special Garden

A very special healing garden
In 1997 a very special garden was built by David McBurney, who lived in Enfield in Sydney, Australia. McBurney is a gardener by trade and he wanted to develop a tool that might help children who are blind.

His special garden was an adjunct to a program that was run by the Royal Blind Society in New South Wales. The Royal Blind Society was running an early intervention program for blind and visually impaired children up to six years old.

The Society had a playroom with toys and gadgets that are arranged to stimulate the senses. McBurney believed that the children might have more fun outdoors, while stimulating their senses through smells, sounds, taste, touch and sight. His garden consisted of a lawn with several small sandstone blocks arranged in a semi-circle. There was surrounding garden beds with a range of different plants, including perfumed flowers, aromatic herbs and fruit trees. The garden also included tactile objects such as bark, pine needles and leaves.

Persian Healing Gardens

The purpose of showing the Habichtswald-Klinik, and other clinics I will discuss some other day, is to place in our immediate consciousness a beautiful and loving approach to healthcare facilities. In far ancient history, there existed the Persian Healing Gardens. A place where the walls of the rooms were vines and flowers, running water cascaded down fountains producing specific musical notes for healing, and colorful flowers adorned the environment. The spirits of the place assisted the practitioners and the nature divas aided in the work. Dreams coming from those in need, helped the practitioners to find the right remedies. Very similar to the dream temples of Asclepius.
