The Material Estate

Accumulating and building, many try to make,
A very big pile, to create a material estate,
But a closer look, at the things in the stack,
Leads most people, to an unhappy fact,
The mountain of baubles, which amounts to great weight,
Cannot be brought, beyond the physical gate.

These physical objects, are not carried by the spiritual hand,
For they have no value, in the spiritual land,
Better to enliven qualities, of the spiritual kind,
Which leads one into, the deeper spiritual mind.

Some chase after bounties, which momentarily give pleasure,
But then they may discover, they're short of the measure,
Others are hounded, by seeming troubles each day,
It is their own actions, which hold them in sway.

On closer inspection, if you take the time to look,
The reality of this world, is like an open book,
The drama at hand, which troubled or pleased,
Is in reality nothing more, than a material tease.

Follow the balanced middle way, great teachers have shared,
And following this wisdom, sadness and heartache can be spared,
Live in true balance, through all that you do,
Enjoy this reality, but to your Inner Spirit be true.
